Telemetry and technology

Traveling with our toy Australian Shepard, Tripp, requires some remote telemetry if we want to monitor his well being! We use two bluetooth temperature sensors from SensorPush, one inside and one outside. Normally we have the inside sensor hanging above the sink.

The outside sensor is hidden inside the passenger side mirror, another SensorPush sensor.

SensorPush has a great iPhone app we use to see the current temperature inside the RV, as well as receive user defined temperature alerts.

We also have a remote camera inside. We started with a Nest camera, and it works great but it was not easy on the bandwidth usage on our internet hotspot. We installed a Blink camera that limits connect time to 10 seconds at a time and that's exactly what we need!

Both devices use a gateway to link to their cloud service, and I created a small “gadget garage” under the sink! With a power switch to control the USB ports that the gateway devices are connected to. Makes it easy to power up or power off the telemetry systems when we travel or have the Tripper parked in storage.

One more thing... We also added a 1000 watt inverter, a Xantrex ProWatt SW 1000. We currently only have a single 75 AH AGM battery as our coach battery. We might have to consider upgrading to a single 200 AH coach battery in the future, maybe one of those new LiFePO4 lithium batteries?
